Vanova
VANOVA is an independent audiovisual production project based in Barcelona, founded by Enric Sant and Maria Burgués. VANOVA was born with the aim of establishing itself as a creator of original art-house content, either focused on animation or on live-action, while also aiming to be an incubator of original, unique, and cutting-edge IPs aimed at multiple kinds of audiences.
VANOVA is currently developing several fiction projects, most of them focused on the animation format, including the short film "IBIS", in pre-production; and the animated series for VR and TV "Lumen", in the development stage, which has already been one of the winning projects at the 2022 edition of Next Lab; among other projects.
IBIS is an animation short film written and directed by Enric Sant and Maria Burgués. With 15 minutes' duration and a Spanish O.V., IBIS tells a coming-of-age story by merging fantasy and drama, aiming to reach the young-adult target. Highly inspired by the urban, working-class atmosphere of a concrete neighbourhood in Barcelona, this project was created to talk about the importance of friendship on helping to overcome deep fears.
IBIS has been awarded with Best Animation Project at CEE Animation Forum 2021, and it was one of the winning projects of the Next Lab VR workshop's 1rst edition in 2021. The short film has also been selected at many coproduction forums, markets, and mentoring sessions such as the M:brane Forum, the Animac Incubator, and the industry sessions of Mecal Pro. IBIS was also a finalist for the Animario Production Award 2020.
Synopsis:
Alba and her best friend, Pili, sneak onto the roof of a neighborhood building. In this isolated and special place, Alba embarks on a mysterious journey leading her to face her greatest fears, which she will only be able to overcome through friendship.

Synopsis:
Lumen, a small luminous Animus, wakes up in an arid and hostile land. Lost and unprotected, he soon discovers various mysterious signs in nature that help him to survive. One day, touching one of the guiding signs, Lumen experiences a revelatory vision that provokes him with an intense desire to discover its meaning. In order to achieve his mission, Lumen continues on a journey in which he meets other beings like himself with whom he has many adventures until he finds his own path.
